Participants during the 2007- 2008 school year will be indicated in the student directory by an asterisk (*) next to the family name. Updates to the list will be found in the MHS PTO monthly newsletter. Participants in this program must be willing to make their phone numbers available in the student telephone directory.
1. When your teen is invited to a party, check the directory (or newsletter update) for the host's name. This will let you know if the party is taking place at the home of a concerned parent who has pledged to provide the proper supervision.
2. Next, phone the host parents to be sure they are going to be home. Since they are Safe Homes members as you are, the host parents will expect to be called by all guests before the party. This is their assurance that unsupervised parties will not be held in their homes when they are not present.
3. Be visible when hosting a party. Don't hesitate to take responsibility for control of your teen's peer group.
4. Lock up your liquor supply. Your teen might not think of getting into it, but his/her friend might.
5. If a gathering occurs where alcohol or illegal drugs are used by minors: (a) The host parent should call the family of the offending minor(s) immediately, and (b) the guest parent should call the host parent as they will want to be made aware of the problem.
6. Lock up all weapons in and around your property. Lock up ammunition separately from weapons.
