MENDHAM – The Mendham High School field hockey team will return many seniors this fall.
Mendham finished last season with a 6-11-1 record, reaching the Morris County Tournament
quarterfinals the first round of the North Jersey, Group 2 state tournament.
The team fell to Randolph in the county tournament and Madison in states.
A number of contributors on last year’s team return, and that brings confidence to head coach
Elizabeth Tolley.
“We are very happy to be returning many seniors this season,” said Tolley. “We are looking to
compete in every game and make a difference in the conference.”
Key players this season include senior midfielders Riley Reardon, Jessica Curl and Elizabeth
Parker and junior midfielder/defender Claire Stolarski.
Reardon put in six goals to go with six assists last year.
Mendham officially gets the season underway at Morristown on Saturday, Sept. 9. The home
opener will be against Chatham on Tuesday, Sept. 12.
Away games will feature Randolph, West Morris, Chatham, Hillsborough, Summit, Montville and
Mount Olive. Other home contests are Montville, Morristown, Randolph, Mountain Lakes, West
Morris and Roxbury.
“This year’s schedule is competitive, but exactly what we need to face,” Tolley said. “We are
going to have some tough games early on that will help us to learn about our strengths and
weaknesses. We can use these games to make the necessary adjustments and improve.”

Tolley said there is a clear focus for this season.
“It is going to be playing as a team,” the coach stated. “One person can’t take on 11 others by
themselves. We will do so by focusing on our positioning, passing and making connections on
the field.”

Last season, three of Mendham’s six wins came by way of shutout, including a 4-0 result over
Morris Knolls in the county tournament second round.
