Civics In Action

On October 7, Mendham High School freshmen and sophomores participated in an engaging Civics learning experience designed to encourage discussion, collaboration, and a deeper understanding of civic responsibility.

The morning began with students gathering in the Main Gym before splitting into two groups for the first round of activities. Students participated in either a Civics Panel Discussion in the Auditorium, where they had the opportunity to ask members of the Social Studies Department questions about civics, government, and the role of citizens in our democracy, or a Civics Trivia Competition in the Main Gym, where students worked in teams with the support of our Peer Leaders.

After the first session, groups switched locations so that all students had the opportunity to participate in both activities. The combination of thoughtful conversation, teamwork, friendly competition, and active participation created a meaningful learning experience for our students.

The Civics Panel encouraged students to think about the rights and responsibilities of citizenship, the importance of being informed, and the value of respectful dialogue across different perspectives. The Trivia Competition provided an opportunity for students to collaborate, apply their knowledge, and celebrate learning in a fun and engaging way.

Thank you to our Social Studies teachers and Peer Leaders for creating an interactive experience that helped our students strengthen their understanding of civics and recognize the important role they play in their school, community, and beyond.
